We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. did not shield from buffets and spitting knowing that I shall not be put to shame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah<\/strong><br><br>The Lord GOD has given me<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; a well-trained tongue,<br>That I might know how to speak to the weary<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; a word that will rouse them.<br>Morning after morning<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; he opens my ear that I may hear;<br>and I have not rebelled,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; have not turned back.<br>I gave my back to those who beat me,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; my cheeks to those who plucked my beard;<br>my face I did not shield<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; from buffets and spitting.<br><br>The Lord GOD is my help,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; therefore I am not disgraced;<br>I have set my face like flint,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; knowing that I shall Because of this God greatly exalted him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Philippians<\/strong><br><br>Christ Jesus, though he was in the form of God,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; did not regard equality with God<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; something to be grasped.<br>Rather, he emptied himself,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; taking the form of a slave,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; coming in human likeness;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; and found human in appearance,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; he humbled himself,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; becoming obedient to death,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; even death on a cross.<br>Because of this, God greatly exalted him<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; and bestowed on him the name<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; that is above every name,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; that at the name of Jesus<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; every knee should bend,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; and every tongue confess that<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; Jesus Christ is Lord,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; to the glory of God the Father.<br><br><strong>The word of the Lord.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Acclamation before the Gospel<\/em><\/strong><br>Phil 2:8-9<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christ become obedient to the point of death,<br>even death on a cross.<br>Because of this, God greatly exalted him<br>and bestowed on him the name which is above every name.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-pane kt-accordion-pane kt-accordion-pane-18 kt-pane_d08bb5-ce\"><div class=\"kt-accordion-header-wrap\"><button class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-header kt-acccordion-button-label-show\"><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-title-wrap\"><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-title\"><strong>Gospel<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-icon-trigger\"><\/span><\/button><\/div><div class=\"kt-accordion-panel\"><div class=\"kt-accordion-panel-inner\">\n<p><strong>A reading from the Gospel of Luke 19: 28-40 \u2013<\/strong><em>&nbsp;Procession with Palms&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem.<br>As he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany<br>at the place called the Mount of Olives,<br>he sent two of his disciples.<br>He said, \u201cGo into the village opposite you,<br>and as you enter it you will find a colt tethered<br>on which no one has ever sat.<br>Untie it and bring it here.<br>And if anyone should ask you,<br>\u2018Why are you untying it?\u2019<br>you will answer,<br>\u2018The Master has need of it.\u2019\u201d<br>So those who had been sent went off<br>and found everything just as he had told them.<br>And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them,<br>\u201cWhy are you untying this colt?\u201d<br>They answered,<br>\u201cThe Master has need of it.\u201d<br>So they brought it to Jesus,<br>threw their cloaks over the colt,<br>and helped Jesus to mount.<br>As he rode along,<br>the people were spreading their cloaks on the road;<br>and now as he was approaching the slope of the Mount of Olives,<br>the whole multitude of his disciples<br>began to praise God aloud with joy<br>for all the mighty deeds they had seen.<br>They proclaimed:<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cBlessed is the king who comes<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; in the name of the Lord.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Peace in heaven<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; and glory in the highest.\u201d<br>Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him,<br>\u201cTeacher, rebuke your disciples.\u201d<br>He said in reply,<br>\u201cI tell you, if they keep silent,<br>the stones will cry out!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Gospel of the Lord<\/strong><br><em>Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fad899\"><strong>Reflection<\/strong><br><br>St Luke dedicates a substantial part of his Gospel (as from chapter 9 verse 51) to Jesus\u2019 journey towards Jerusalem, where He would give His life for us. Today\u2019s account illustrates the culmination of this journey with His entry into the Holy City. Jerusalem, the City that Jesus journeyed towards with a strong determination\u2014preaching, teaching, admonishing and healing along the way. Jerusalem the City from which He was to leave this world to return to the Father.\u00a0<br><br>Finally, Jesus arrives in Jerusalem, and His journey has reached its end. Jesus\u2019 determination to fulfil the Father\u2019s will manifests itself in what we read in the Gospel: \u201cHe went on in front of them toward Jerusalem.\u201d The people were waiting for Him in anticipation. The crowd continued to grow along the road to see Him pass by while shouting out joyfully. The crowd:\u00a0<br>&#8211; welcomed Him with joy \u2026 but did not accept His words;\u00a0<br>&#8211; spread their cloaks on the road where He was to pass \u2026 but their hearts were closed to Him;\u00a0<br>&#8211; received Him who came amongst them \u201cin the Name of the Lord\u201d \u2026 but quickly forgot the words He had spoken to them.\u00a0<br><br>To the extent that after this event, we encounter the same crowd \u2026 but this time they shout: \u201cCrucify Him, Crucify Him.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prayer<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Lord, do not allow me to reject Your words as the crowd in Jerusalem did. What use is it to welcome You, but then reject Your words?
