Fi kliem ieħor, se jitlob minnek li titla’ miegħu fuq is-salib, hi x’inhi l-ħajja li għaliha qiegħed isejjaħlek. Lill-Profeta Ġeremija, meta sejjaħlu, qallu li, qabel ma għażlu biex jibni u jħawwel, għażlu biex jaqla’ u jġarraf, jeqred u jħott (Ġer 1, 10). U Ġeremija tant isibha diffiċli li, f’punt minnhom jakkuża lil Alla li qarraq bih u allura xtaq li jgħolli kollox, imma fl-istess waqt fih kien hemm dan in-nar tal-imħabba ta’ Alla li kien kbir wisq biex iżommu magħluq ġewwa fih (Ġer 20, 7-9).
Issibha kemm issibha bi tqila, ftakar però li Ġesù fl-ebda punt mhu se jipprova jidħaq bik biex tagħmel li jrid hu. Mill-ewwel qallek:
“Jekk xi ħadd irid jiġi warajja, għandu jiċħad lilu nnifsu, jerfa’ salibu kuljum, u jimxi warajja.”

Il-ħolma ta’ Alla forsi tnissel ċertu biża’ fina. U din hija esperjenza mill-iktar umana li anke Kristu ħass meta kien affaċċjat bl-għażla fundamentali jekk, quddiem it-theddida għal ħajtu u l-passjoni imminenti, jaħrabx jew jibqax hemm. Imma Ġesù jikkonfronta din id-deċiżjoni permezz tat-talb. Għalhekk nagħlaq bil-kliem indirizzat speċifikament liż-żgħażagħ li bih għalaq l-omelija tiegħu l-Papa Benedittu XVI meta beda l-ministeru tiegħu:
Għeżież żgħażagħ: La tibżgħux minn Kristu! Hu ma jeħdilkom xejn u jagħtikom kollox. Min jingħata lilu, jirċievi għal mitt darba. Iva, iftħu, iftħu beraħ il-bibien għal Kristu—u ssibu l-ħajja vera. Ammen.
