Din hija l-istedina li qed issirilna permezz tal-Ġublew: li nterrqu tul il-ħajja tagħna bħala pellegrini tat-Tama. Imma allura dan xi jfisser b’mod konkret? X’differenza se jagħmel għalija u għalik … għalina? Min hu l-pellegrin? Xi tfisser li ngħixu l-ħajja bħala pellegrini tat-Tama? Fuq kollox: xi tfisser tassew it-Tama?
Nistgħu ngħidu li l-fenomenu tal-pellegrinaġġ insibuha f’kull esperjenza reliġjuża. Ġeneralment il-pellegrinaġġi jsiru lejn xi santwarju għażiż jew post sagru. Imma għan-Nisrani hemm dimensjoni ogħla għal din l-esperjenza mill-iktar umana.
Għal dawk li jemmnu fi Kristu, il-ħajja stess tal-bniedem hija pellegrinaġġ għax hija mixja fuq din l-art lejn is-Santwarju tas-Sema, il-Ġenna: “Tqabadt it-taqbida t-tajba, temmejt il-ġirja, ħarist il-fidi” (2 Tim 4, 7). Fil-fatt, il-kelma pellegrin ġejja mill-kelma Latina peregrinus, li tfisser dak li jimxi lejn xi post, lejn xi pajjiż. Għalina din il-kelma hija fundamentali għaliex aħna qed ngħixu f’art barranija (id-dinja), waqt li qed interrqu lejn is-Sema pajjiżna, id-“dar” fejn jgħammar Alla.
Mhux ta’ b’xejn li, lill-Efesin, San Pawl jiktbilhom li, minkejja li kienu pagani, xorta waħda “ma għadkomx aktar barranin u frustieri, imma intom ċittadini flimkien mal-qaddisin u nies tad-dar ta’ Alla” (Ef 2, 19). U lill-Filippin jfissrilhom li “aħna pajjiżna fis-sema; minn hemm bil-ħerqa nistennewh jiġi, is-Salvatur tagħna Sidna Ġesù Kristu. Hu għad irid ibiddlilna l-ġisem imsejken tagħna fis-sura tal-ġisem glorjuż tiegħu, bil-qawwa tas-setgħa li għandu li jġib kollox taħtu” (Fil 3, 20-21).
Niftakru li l-bniedem hu maħluq minn Alla biex jgħix miegħu fis-Sema. Il-mixja tal-ħajja tagħna għalhekk mhi xejn għajr mixja u tfittxija ta’ Alla. Għaldaqstant, il-pellegrinaġġ mhuwiex ġita turistika, iżda huwa mixja flimkien li tissimbolizza dan kollu u li tgħin biex iddawwal il-ħajja tal-pellegrin u ta’ oħrajn b’mod sħiħ.
