Tifħir ta’ sbiħ il-jum, l-Erbgħa 31 ta’ Jannar 2024

Salm 107 (108)

Tifħir ’l Alla u talb għall-għajnuna
Alla refa’ lil Ibnu fil-għoli tas-smewwiet; għalhekk l-art kollha xxandar il-glorja ta’ Kristu. (Arnobju)

Sħiħa qalbi, o Alla! *
Ħa ngħanni u ninseġ għanja:
Qum, ruħ tiegħi, qum arpa u ċetra! *
Ħa nqajjem sbiħ il-jum!

Infaħħrek, Mulej, fost il-popli, *
ngħannilek fost il-ġnus;
għax m’ogħla s-smewwiet it-tjieba tiegħek, *
sas-sħab il-fedeltà tiegħek.
Ogħla ’l fuq mis-smewwiet, o Alla! *
Uri l-glorja tiegħek fuq l-art kollha,
biex ikunu meħlusa l-għeżież tiegħek; *
għinna bil-leminija tiegħek u weġibna!

Tkellem Alla fis-santwarju tiegħu: †
“Ferħan nieħu b’sehmi lil Sikem, *
nagħmel oqsma mill-wied ta’ Sukkot.
Tiegħi hu Gilgħad, tiegħi Manasse, †
Efrajm hu l-elmu ta’ rasi, *
u Ġuda x-xettru tiegħi.
Moab lenbija fejn ninħasel, †
fuq Edom inqiegħed il-qorq tiegħi, *
fuq Filistja nifraħ rebbieħ!”

Min se jwassalni sal-belt bis-swar? *
Min se jeħodni sa Edom?
Mhux int, o Alla, li warrabtna, *
u li m’għadekx toħroġ mal-eżerċtu tagħna?

Agħtina l-għajnuna kontra l-għadu; *
għax xejn ma tiswa l-għajnuna tal-bniedem,
Bl-għajnuna ta’ Alla nuru ħilitna; *
hu li jisħaq l-għedewwa tagħna.

Glorja.

Ant. 1: Qalbi mħejjija biex tfaħħrek, Alla tiegħi.

Ant. 2: Il-Mulej libbisni bi lbies is-salvazzjoni u l-ġustizzja.

Psalm 108
Praise of God and a plea for help

Since the Son of God has been exalted above the heavens, his glory is proclaimed through all the earth (Arnobius).

My heart is ready, O God; *
I will sing, sing your praise.
Awake, my soul; †
awake, lyre and harp. *
I will awake the dawn.

I will thank you, Lord, among the peoples, *
among the nations I will praise you,
for your love reaches to the heavens *
and your truth to the skies.
O God, arise above the heavens; *
may your glory shine on earth!

O come and deliver your friends; *
help with your right hand and reply.
From his holy place God has made this promise: †
“I will triumph and divide the land of Shechem; *
I will measure out the valley of Succoth.

Gilead is mine and Manasseh. *
Ephraim I take for my helmet,
Judah for my commander’s staff. *
Moab I will use for my washbowl,
on Edom I will plant my shoe. *
Over the Philistines I will shout in triumph.”

But who will lead me to conquer the fortress? *
Who will bring me face to face with Edom?
Will you utterly reject us, O God, *
and no longer march with our armies?

Give us help against the foe: *
for the help of man is vain.
With God we shall do bravely *
and he will trample down our foes.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
