Meta jqum is-suġġett tat-talb, ir-reazzjonijiet ikunu differenti. Min il-mod ta’ kif iħares lejn it-talb ikun bħal tat-tfal iż-żgħar. Min għalih it-talb ma jfisser xejn għax f’ħajtu l-aspett spiritwali ma jidher imkien. Oħrajn ikun jidher li hemm xi forma ta’ esperjenza, imma hemm għatx għal iktar. U min jixtieq li jitlob imma hemm xi ħaġa li żżommu.
B’mod dirett jew indirett, ikun hemm ix-xewqa li xi ħadd jgħallimhom kif jitolbu, kif jegħlbu l-ostakli u jesperjenzaw din ir-relazzjoni diretta ma’ Alla. Ikun hemm l-istess xewqa tad-dixxipli meta, fi triqithom lejn Ġerusalemm fejn Ġesù kien sejjer jagħti ħajtu għalina, wara li raw lilu jitlob, ġenwinament jistaqsuh, “Mulej, għallimna nitolbu” (Lq 11, 1).
L-aħbar il-ħażina hija li t-talb mhuwiex xi logħba fejn hemm sett ta’ regoli li meta titgħallimhom tkun tgħallimt titlob. Kieku kien hekk, kieku kienet tkun tassew faċli imma ma kien ikun fadal xejn mill-ispontanjetà ta’ relazzjoni.
L-aħbar it-tajba hija li Ġesù, flok jgħallimhom metodu jew teknika, jaqsam mad-dixxipli l-mod tiegħu tat-talb: jgħallimhom isejħu lil Alla bħala “Missier”; jgħallimhom x’għandhom ifittxu l-ewwel (il-glorja u l-qima ta’ Alla); jgħallimhom ukoll x’inhuma l-prijoritajiet ta’ dak li għandhom jitolbu għalih fejn tidħol il-ħajja tagħhom bħala bnedmin b’ġisem (l-ikel, il-maħfra tad-dnubiet, il-ħarsien mill-ħażin). F’kelma waħda jgħallimhom ma jibżgħux. Wara kollox, kif jgħid San Pawl:
Aħna anqas biss nafu nitolbu kif imiss, imma l-Ispirtu stess jidħol għalina bit-talb tiegħu bi tnehid li ma jistax jitfisser bil-kliem; u Alla, li l-ħarsa tiegħu tinfed il-qlub, jaf x’inhi x-xewqa tal-Ispirtu; bit-talb tiegħu jidħol għall-qaddisin skont ma jrid Alla.
