Salm 2

Il-Messija sultan rebbieħ
Huma nġemgħu tabilħaqq kontra l-qaddej qaddis tiegħek Ġesù, li int ikkonsagrajt. (Atti 4:27)

Għaliex jixxewxu l-ġnus, *
u l-popli jreddnu għalxejn?
Is-slaten tal-art iqumu, †
u l-kbarat jiftiehmu bejniethom *
kontra l-Mulej u l-Midluk tiegħu:
“Ħa nkissru l-ktajjen tagħhom, *
u ntajru minn fuqna l-irbit tagħhom!”

Dak li hu fis-smewwiet jidħak bihom, *
il-Mulej biċ-ċajt jeħodhom.
Imbagħad ikellimhom bil-herra, *
bil-qilla tiegħu jkexkixhom:
“Għax jien għamiltu s-sultan tiegħi, *
fuq Sijon, l-għolja mqaddsa tiegħi!”

Irrid inxandar id-digriet tal-Mulej; *
hu qalli: “Ibni int, jien illum nissiltek.
Itlobni, u l-ġnus nagħtik b’wirtek, *
u truf l-art bi priża tiegħek.
B’virga tal-ħadid int tkissirhom, *
bħal ġarra tal-fuħħar frak tagħmilhom.”

U issa, slaten, ifhmu sewwa, *
twiddbu, intom li taħkmu l-art.
Aqdu lill-Mulej bil-biża’, *
u bir-rogħda riġlejh busu,
li ma jagħdabx u intom tinqerdu, *
għax malajr tixgħel il-qilla tiegħu.
Hienja dawk kollha *
li jistkennu fih!

Glorja.

Ant. 1: Meta waslet il-milja taż-żminijiet, Alla bagħat lil Ibnu, imwieled minn mara, biex ikollna l-adozzjoni, hallelujah.

Ant. 2: Meta daħal fid-dinja, qal: Int ħejjejt ġisem għalija; hawn jien, ġejt, biex nagħmel ir-rieda tiegħek, o Alla, hallelujah.

Psalm 2
The Messiah, king and conqueror

The rulers of the earth joined forces to overthrow Jesus, your anointed Son (Acts 4:27).

Why this tumult among nations, *
among peoples this useless murmuring?
They arise, the kings of the earth, *
princes plot against the Lord and his Anointed.
“Come let us break their fetters, *
come, let us cast off their yoke.”

He who sits in the heavens laughs; *
the Lord is laughing them to scorn.
Then he will speak in his anger, *
his rage will strike them with terror.
“It is I who have set up my king *
on Zion, my holy mountain.”

I will announce the decree of the Lord:

The Lord said to me: “You are my Son. *
It is I who have begotten you this day.
Ask and I shall bequeath you the nations, *
put the ends of the earth in your possession.
With a rod of iron you will break them, *
shatter them like a potter’s jar.”

Now, O kings, understand, *
take warning, rulers of the earth;
serve the Lord with awe *
and trembling, pay him your homage
lest he be angry and you perish; *
for suddenly his anger will blaze.

Blessed are they who put their trust in God.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
