Salm 118 (119):9-16

II (Bet)

Kif jista’ żagħżugħ jimxi safi fi triqtu? *
Billi jħares il-kelma tiegħek.
B’qalbi kollha jiena nfittxek; *
tħallinix nitbiegħed mill-kmandamenti tiegħek.

Jien żammejt kelmtek f’qalbi, *
biex ma nidneb qatt kontrik.
Imbierek int, Mulej! *
Għallimni l-kmandamenti tiegħek.

B’xufftejja jiena nxandar *
id-digrieti kollha ta’ fommok.
Nifraħ fit-triq tal-preċetti tiegħek, *
daqs kieku kelli l-għana kollu.

Fuq il-preċetti tiegħek irrid naħseb, *
u nżomm għajnejja fuq triqatek.
Bil-kmandamenti tiegħek irrid nitgħaxxaq, *
qatt ma ninsa l-kelma tiegħek.

Glorja.

Psalm 119:9-16
II (Beth)

A meditation on God’s law

Loving God means keeping his commandments (1 John 5:3).

How shall the young remain sinless? *
By obeying your word.
I have sought you with all my heart: *
let me not stray from your commands.

I treasure your promise in my heart *
lest I sin against you.
Blessed are you, O Lord; *
teach me your statutes.

With my tongue I have recounted *
the decrees of your lips.
I rejoice to do your will *
as though all riches were mine.

I will ponder all your precepts *
and consider your paths.
I take delight in your statutes; *
I will not forget your word.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
