Salm 118 (119):57-64
VIII (Ħet)
Jien għedt, Mulej: “Dan hu sehmi, *
li nħares il-kelma tiegħek.”
Quddiemek nitlob b’qalbi kollha; *
ħenn għalija skond il-wegħda tiegħek.
Jien qist sewwa l-mixi tiegħi, *
u rġajt lura lejn il-preċetti tiegħek.
Ngħaġġel u ma nitnikkirx, *
biex inħares il-kmandamenti tiegħek.
Il-ħbula tal-ħżiena dawramejt għalquni, *
imma jien ma nsejtx il-liġi tiegħek.
F’nofs il-lejl inqum infaħħrek *
minħabba d-digrieti ġusti tiegħek.
Nissieħeb ma’ kull min għandu l-biża’ tiegħek, *
ma’ dawk li jħarsu l-preċetti tiegħek.
Mimlija, Mulej, l-art bit-tjieba tiegħek; *
għallimni l-kmandamenti tiegħek.
Glorja.
Ant. 1: Jien qist sewwa l-mixi tiegħi, u rġajt lura lejn il-preċetti tiegħek.
Ant. 2: Biża’ u tregħid jiġu fuqi; ismagħni u weġibni, Mulej.

Psalm 119:57-64
VIII (Heth)
A meditation on God’s law
This is my new commandment: that you should love one another (John 15:12).
My part, I have resolved, O Lord, *
is to obey your word.
With all my heart I implore your favor; *
show the mercy of your promise.
I have pondered over my ways *
and returned to your will.
I made haste and did not delay *
to obey your commands.
Though the nets of the wicked ensnared me *
I remembered your law.
At midnight I will rise and thank you *
for your just decrees.
I am a friend of all who revere you, *
who obey your precepts.
Lord, your love fills the earth. *
Teach me your commands.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,*
and will be for ever. Amen.
